Razer Edge begins shipping for pre-orders
Good news is, though Razer previously mentioned that they have no confirmation on shipping dates, the gaming peripherals company has taken to its Facebook page recently to announce that the convertible Windows 8 tablet has now started to ship for those who pre-ordered in March and only in the USA and Canada.

'The most powerful tablet' Razer Edge (Pro) announced - a gaming tablet, PC and console
But the Razer Edge (Pro) isn't merely a tablet by itself.
In fact, this whole idea of a gaming tablet started off a year ago at the very same event CES 2012 as Project Fiona - a portable gaming tablet with handle/controllers at the sides. After a year's development and progress, including crowdsourcing ideas from fans on their facebook page, what started off as a concept idea has now became a reality with improved versatility and embeds the very specs Razer fans has voted for.
As how Razer puts it, "It's a tablet. It’s a PC. It’s a console". Ultimately following the trend, the Razer Edge is similar to a Windows 8 convertible having 4 different 'modes'.
Priced at $999 for the slate itself, it is like any Windows 8 tablet with full-compatibility with any other softwares and touchscreen-based games.

Razer CEO showcases its Kraken Signature Black Edition, unavailable in markets
Recently, Tan posted several photos of Razer's latest product, the Razer Kraken Signature Black Edition. The original Kraken was already a sight to behold, and with a pure all-black edition, it was really, really tempting.
The downside was, Razer's Signature Black Editions are always limited, in fact, extremely limited as they are only exclusively produced as a sign of appreciation for their closest friends and partners at the company. As explained by Tan, "every year, we design a Black Signature edition (limited to 1337 units) that bears my signature. These products are not for sale and are individually serialized and marked - and gifted to our closest friends and partners at Razer."
Though well yes I definitely do wish I was one of their 'closest friends and partners', it's really inspiring to see such a huge company making all these efforts for those they respect and appreciate most. Who knows, maybe one day, hopefully, cross my fingers, when I do get a chance in interviewing Tan (one of my personal goals), I may just get a step ahead.
But till then, I'll just drool at it.

5 key features of the new Razer Blade
Face the facts, most gaming laptops today are big, fat, and extremely bulky. If that is anything, it's a huge concern for a gamer like myself where I believe that gaming should not be a pain in the ass where you have to carry a luggage wherever you go.
Hence, portability is one of the most important factor for me should I get a gaming laptop myself. Good news is, about a year ago, Razer unveiled their first ever gaming laptop and despite all odds, it was pretty much a hardcore gaming laptop with actual portability in mind.
Staying true to its original form, the recently-upgraded, new Razer Blade is said to boast an even stronger performance in a similar, sleek body shell.

If you're wondering how exactly thin is "amazingly thin", guess what, the new Blade is only 0.88 inches, and weighs less than seven pounds. Comparably, it is about a third of the weight of most gaming laptops in the market.Performance
But with such slimness and lightness, comes the question on whether its performance would live up to a gamer's expectation. To support all the strongest visuals with lag-free continuity, the second generation of the Blade "features the next generation of Intel quad core processors combined with powerful NVIDIA GTX class graphics chips and the fastest RAM available”, as stated by Tan himself.Comfort
At the same time, with most laptops and especially with such great needs, heat is one of the biggest threat for comfort to come suitably with portability. Hence, intelligent and efficient ventilation is needed. "The original Razer Blade's thermal system was completely re-engineered and built from custom-crafted parts with larger vents and specially designed heat pipes that allow more airflow to the unit's extreme components." Oh yes, this is my favourite. If you haven't heard about it or seen it before, it's pretty much quite a unique user interface with a multi-touch panel with changing functions depending on situations and commands. The feature was first introduced in the original Razer Blade, and has since grown with more applications designed to fit in accordingly - be it in games or social network apps.Price
First thing you see in the Razer Blade is its sleekness and portability. Check. Performance? Check. Comfort? Check (Probably). Razer Switchblade UI? Check. So with so many things going on in one single gaming laptop which defies common beliefs, how much does it cost? Razer Blade Starts Shipping To Singapore On June 14, Price Costs a Bomb at SGD4000
Razer, known most profoundly for its gaming gears, ventured to unveil its first ever gaming laptop last year. Known as the Razer Blade, it features an Intel Core i7 and a Nvidia GeForce graphics processor on an impressive 17.3 inch display. And unlike most gaming laptops, the Blade is much, much thinner, at only 0.88 inches and only weighs at a mere 6.4lbs which evidently, aims to achieve the optimum portability while correctly balancing it with top-notch gaming performance.
Well, the Razer Blade was first only available in North America; and only after about a year later, Razer is going start shipping it outside. And guess what, the second country around the world to receive the Razer Blade is Singapore. Actually, it was quite unsurprising as Razer's CEO Min-Liang Tan hails from Singapore itself.
Oh, but what about its price? That's the tricky part here as like all gaming laptops, they usually cost a bomb; and for the Razer Blade, it's definitely gona make a hole in your wallet.

Yes, that's right. Converted to Malaysian Ringgit, it would be close to RM9500 if you want some Malaysian dealer to ship it here. That, by far, would possibly be one of the most expensive gaming laptops in the world especially since it is reported to retain its previous-gen Sandy Bridge processor and not the latest Ivy Bridge technology, which could possibly be the main concern for us purchases. And again, the timing couldn't be any worse considering that the MBP was just announced with an even slimmer body and a comparably cheaper price.
But then again, it caters to an entirely different market, on a niche of gamers. And only if I had the cash, I'm definitely up for it. Only if...

Razer Artemis, Concept Mechwarrior Online Controller Unveiled
Razer has recently unveiled its latest concept project, the Razer Artemis Controller designed specifically to work hand-in-hand with Mechwarrior Online. According to Razer, it is inspired by "the devastating battlemechs", and is crafted with the sole purpose "of putting you directly in the cockpit of your favored hulking behemoth".
Evidently, it is made for piloting those giant kickass beasts in the game, and the concept controller itself is very mechanical-and-behemoth-like. It is equipped with fully-programmable keys, adjustable joystick with force feedback feature, and an integrated screen. Do note that this is still a concept device so it is definitely is not available in the market. However, check out the video below for some insight on how it is like.

Hands-on the Razer Blade. Portability + Performance?
The Razer Blade is Razer's latest and first flagship gaming laptop featuring the latest Intel Core i7 and a Nvidia GeForce graphics processor, on an impressive 17.3 inch display, only 0.88 inches thin and weights at a mere 6.4lbs. Evidently, it aims to achieve the optimum portability while correctly balancing it with top-notch gaming performance.
Also, arguably it's most significant and distinct feature is its Switchblade User Interface, which functions in two modes: one mode that displays in-game information when a mouse is in use; and another mode that functions as an ultra-sensitive, multi-touch track-panel designed solely to accommodate portable gaming experience.
Taken from their official website, it strives to be "the best gaming experience on-the-go with true portability, incredible performance, and all-new revolutionary user interface". Looking at its specs, it definitely sounds extremely portable though we would like to try its performance for ourselves. Unfortunately, we are unable to get hold of one yet, due do location (it's not available in Malaysia yet) and price factor. BTW, it sells at a whopping $2800 (or RM8400 in Malaysia).
Anyway, here's a short clip from Razer's CEO Min-Liang Tan himself playing Skyrim at its highest settings as he travels through the clouds 35,000 feet high.

Razer to Sponsor and Help Develop E-Sports in Malaysia
Co-founder of Razer Min-Liang Tan recently shared in a statement that the company is interested, and will be further developing the e-sports scene in Malaysia. In his own words:
“There is still so much room for the Malaysian e-Sports community and industry as a whole to grow. Razer is looking forward to equip more aspiring Malaysian gamers with our gaming-grade hardware and provide the financial support so that they can focus on their gaming and dominate the global gaming arena.”To further reinforce his plans, CEO Min-Liang Tan himself will be personally visiting Malaysia this weekend (14th of April) to meet the local growing gaming scene, as well as for the PIKOM PC Fair at KL Convention Centre

Also, on a similar note, he will have an exclusive Meet and Greet session and the first 10 in line to meet him (more specifically starting at 1pm) will walk home with 5 exclusive Signature Edition Razer DeathAdders and 5 Signature Edition Ironclads. Sure sounds like incentive, isn't it? Nevermind if you can't make it to the first 10 but if you visit Razer's booth, you will still pick up some special Razer swag like drinking flasks, beanies and even bandannas, which will all be autographed by Tan himself!
Anyway, Razer's interest in the development of the Malaysian e-sports scene will surely open up more opportunities to aspiring competitive gamers, which we definitely already have world-class standards.
