[MGCCon 2012] Interview with Jay Tablante

Hailing from the Philippines, Jay Tablante is a well-known cosplay photographer who has worked with famous cosplayers like Alodia, who they both made a visit to Malaysia specially to attend the first Malaysian Games and Comics Convention (MGCCon). Though we were unable to get in touch with Alodia, we fortunately hooked up wtih Jay Tablante and scored an interview with him.

*This interview video was done in collaboration with upcoming youtub-ers and our great friends DaDiDumTV and thatDanMarc

Malaysian Games and Comic Convention (MGCCon) 2012 [Photos + Video]

On the 19th of May, in collaboration with upcoming youtube-rs and of course our great friends thatDanMarc and DaDiDumTV, we went for the inagural MGCCon 2012 (Malaysian Games and Comics Convention) which was held in KDU College Damansara.

The whole event started around 10am but most booths at the main hall only started to display their stuff at around 10.30am.

This looks amazing, doesn't it?

Then, the crowd started coming in and at the end of the hall, there were PS3 video games for visitors to play with, as well as for others to look at.

Gaming on consoles..

and other visitors looking on...can you spot our friends DaDiDumTV filming? :P

Moving on, we caught up with the League of Legends Garena Trials. (If you've never heard about League of Legends before, it's a strategy game like Dota in short)
Doesn't it look like a cyber cafe? lol

The game was so intense that everyone was basically glued to the screen, and for the gamers, nothing, absolutely nothing, would distract them...

Even a phone call will not stop the players yo!

The organizer explaining the rules to the participants so the game will go on fairly.

Proceeding to the next room, for the GameDevthon and Comic Challenge..

A briefing to all participants.

The participants sitting and listening to the briefing before getting on their work.

Basically, for both competitions, participants have to present their end product within 24 hours in the library. Once the briefing ended, both competition commences so meanwhile, we decided to go ahead to the lecture theatre to catch the talk on the Making of Tekken: Blood Vengeance.

An opening speech before the director himself gives the talk.

The director, Youichi Mori giving the talk.

Most of the talk were inspiring words to fans who share the same passion to create animations and games, and was definitely insightful to those who dream of being an animator/game designer. He then continued to talk about the production of Tekken: Blood Vengeance, before giving an exclusive sneak peak on the animation itself which, mind you, is not officially released yet. So kudos to the MGCCon organising team!

Of course, how can a comic convention not have any cosplayers, right?

Speaking about cosplayers, unfortunately, we were unable to get in touch with the renown cosplayer Alodia. She just weren't around wherever we go (damn..). However, we did get a chance to meet the one and only Jay Tablante, also a famous cosplay photographer from the Philippines who we then interviewed.

Jay Tablante with one of his finest work. (Watch his interview here!)

Yep, that's basically it for the first day but before leaving the convention, we went back to the GameDevthon and Comics competition to check on their progress. (Basically to spy on them again..)

Electronic drawing!

and the classic, traditional way!

(Editor's note:) Oh, remember we said in the beginning that we visited MGCCon 2012 with our great friends DaDiDumTV and thatDanMarc? Well, here's a video by them providing an overall visual during the first day of MGCCon 2012. Check it out ok, it's nicely-made and I've got to admit I admire their skills.

Assassin's Creed 3 World Gameplay Premiere: on Freedom and Liberty [Trailer]

"Trapped between two worlds, Connor dons the mantle of the Assassin in the fight for justice against the Templars. Sentinel, outsider, and champion, Connor defends the land against those who would infringe upon freedom and liberty."

1,776,000 shares after and the world gameplay premiere of Assassin's Creed 3 is now released. Their 'Unite' marketing strategy have been quite so very effective I would say, and the meaning behind it is much appropriate when you watch its gameplay trailer - which is all about freedom, liberty, and of course, how assassin the protagonist Connor is.

Assassin's Creed 3 Releases 10th October on the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.

Dishonored Official Box Art Announced, Releasing October 9th

Dishonored is Bethesda Softworks latest piece of art, which I would say is a combination between the mechanics of Assassins Creed and Deus Ex. No official gameplay video or detailed information about the game have been announced, but what's recently confirmed is its release date and the box art above (which looks insanely incredible). So heads up guys, Dishonored is set for a release on the 9th of October on the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.

The Elder Scrolls Online Confirmed for a 2013 Release! [Details + Trailer]

The Elder Scrolls Online
So yes it's gonna be epic. The Elder Scrolls series have always been one of the largest and most popular video games of all time, and its definitely set to be even larger, gigantic large.

Rumours on an Elder Scrolls MMO title have long since been circulating, but it has only until very recently that The Elder Scrolls Online was confirmed by Bethesda Softworks and the developer Zenimax Online Studios. Though no official information have been released yet, here's some insider details on what you can expect:

Three factions:
  • Ebonheart Pact - The Nords, Dunmer and Argoninans
  • Aldmeri Dominion - Altmer, Bosmer and Khaijit
  • Daggerfall Covenant - Bretons, Redguard and Orcs

Story:
  • Includes the entire continent of Tamriel.
  • Takes place a millennium before the events of Skyrim
  • No werewolf, no vampire.
  • Lots of dragons (duhh..)

Gameplay:
  • The Elder Scrolls Online is powered by the same engine that powers Star Wars: The Old Republic
  • Uses a hotbar to activate skills, just like any other MMOs
  • Solo questing, public dungeons.
  • PVP with three player factions that can engage in "open-world warfare"

and let's take a look at their first trailer featuring a, let's just say, a really huge iron dragon.

If you've been following my Skyrim Saturdays articles, you would know that Skyrim was one of most favourited games of all time (besides Dota and Assassins Creed) so without a doubt, this MMO-fication of The Elder Scrolls Online would be at the top of my "2013 Highly-Anticipated Video Games" list. I just hope that they fix those bugs and well, shoot me with all their dragons.

What about you? If you are a WoW player, would you forgo it for this?

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 Unveiled With BIG Changes - Futuristic Setting, "Braching Storylines"

Evidently, the Call of Duty franchise is here to stay and its next title will be all about the future. Say what? Yeap, no more cold wars, no more world wars, no more historically-based wars. Instead, let's welcome some big changes to its franchise and the first of all will be the whole new setting in a futuristic world of robots and highly-advanced arsenals.

But that's not all, along to its Game Director Dave Anthony, the series' linearity "has been thrown away, with the game to feature "branching storylines" and "player choice" allowing players to decide their own path as the game progresses. He also added that, "and all bets are off in term of how you expect this game is going to play".

Before I share my thoughts with you, check out their first trailer featuring an old man, gorilla-looking robots, spaceships, wild wild west horse riding and of course explosions, explosions and michael bay explosions.

Personally, I feel that their new change in setting and the new "branching storylines" will be, hopefully, setting a whole new direction to the franchise. Like it or not, linear storylines and straightforward rambo-like gameplay is not anything fascinating anymore, and this change should revitalise and bring a fresh start to the franchise again. However, they might just lose some fans with the futuristic change. At the end of the day, we already have Halo 4 (releasing just one week before) and Mass Effect 3 to kill aliens. Oh wait, this has no aliens, right?

What's your opinion on this change? Shoot us your thoughts! (:
*Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 releases on November 13 on the PC, PS3 and Xbox360.

Dota 2 Updated, Gets New Better Interface (Thank God)

Honestly, Dota 2's first user interface was just horrible. Everything seemed so crammed and tiny and mini and I simply couldn't imagine people with smaller-sized screens playing this game, because other than its gameplay, its visual display is just bad. Real bad.

Luckily, finally, Valve made an effort to update their UI (user interface) switching it back to a more classic Dota-like display which I would definitely say is more visually appealing to the eyes. Yes, it's THAT much better.

The courier UI now allows item delivery with just a single click; but its still so damn small! but i guess it's ok since its just a courier...lol

And yes, a the item icons are finally bigger; but the icons in the shops are still darn small!

So to the developers of Dota 2, if this post ever reaches you, please take heed the 'suggestions' of a mere player like me. And to all the Dota 2 gamers out there, if you agree in what nonsense I've just rambled about, do give us a like.
