DG Smart Plan and my Android Phone

We all know the yellow Digi man. He's pretty much a stalker isn't he? Follows you everywhere, appearing on your television and the radio every once in a while...and has even became synonymous with Digi itself. But that's a good thing. It's witty personality and its smart nature aptly defines what Digi is all about - smart, and bright.

Digi very well understands what we as consumers want and tries its best to adhere to our demands - affordable prices, stable, high-speed broadband, a strong customer service experience, and of course, to offer the latest smartphones at the cheapest rate.

Recently, Google unveiled its Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update while Samsung Galaxy Nexus was the first, and up till now the only phone to be integrated with it. If you ask me, this update is extremely important for Android smartphones as the last I remembered was the mere 2.3 something Gingerbread - which is totally outdated among its rivals.

I've been considering this phone for quite some time and I found Digi's plan pretty decent. The usual retail price should be around RM2,099 and with Digi, I would get RM100 off. It would only cost me 15 sens per minute for a call, which is comparably lower than most telco services.

Data Usage
Also, it is less risky if I accidentally reached the maximum monthly quota as they will be no extra charges whatsoever. I don't really use THAT much of internet anyway but it's always better to be cautious, and I'm pretty sure Digi should be a smarter partner in lowering any extra, unnecessary costs. Talking about data usage, Galaxy Nexus have a feature to allow users to check its data usage, and even setting the maximum data limit! That will definitely come in handy.

I Came, I Saw, I Voted (Bloggers and Social Media Award)

Wow, time flies. Just a few weeks ago, I was still enjoying my year-end holidays. But, now 2012, when the world's suppose to end and all those crap, including the fact that it's my exam year (sigh) and am in the midst of my trials. That was fast, really fast.

Anyway, I started blogging about 5 months back, jotting down any thing interesting relating to tech, gadgets, events, but particularly on video games and basically some of what I see and what I hear. I didn't really expect much at first considering it was just a part-time thing when I'm bored, but wow I must say that I'm really, really surprised, and of course, thank you for all of those who read my blog. I really didn't expect that. :D

So where was I again? Oh yes, so I blog about video games, tech stuff, gadgets, events, bla bla bla..and yes, I'm going to hide my face, and hopefully, ask for 5 minutes of your time to vote for me.

I recently got nominated for a Bloggers and Social Media Award under 'Upcoming Blogger of the Year' and 'Best Gadget Blog' so I'm really, really hoping that you would spare some time to vote for me. Boleh? (:

It's pretty simple, just visit here and you will see www.theshadowgamer.com right in front (oh yeah!), click on vote, and ta-dah :D But...just hold on a minute there, before you go, drop me a comment on my facebook page here or tweet me through twitter here so I can know you better.

My many, many thanks!

6 OMG Super Cool Moments of Skyrim

Guys, I know I've been blogging about Skyrim again and again these days - from reviews to tips and secrets - but just bare with me for this very last post, for Skyrim is 2011's Game of the Year, literally and figuratively. It's an awesome game, no doubt about that. Therefore, I find that it's only apt if I conclude the year with a dedicated post for all the insanely-crazy, simple, yet immensely-powerful moments which defines what Skyrim is all about.

1)He got skills!
Skyrim is a world of endless possibilities where anything can be possible - this will only mean that some crazy, crazy stuff will happen and this is simply one of the many examples, something more than a headshot.

2)Modified
Sometimes, the plain old game can be rather dull after a while. But when that time comes, just get online, search for some interesting mods and your Skyrim world can be really, really different - and not to mention, extremely retarded.

3)Music Classic
Seriously check this out man, that is one extremely talented, beautifully-pieced video of Skryim's main theme song, on violin classico.

4)Fus Ro Dah
"Fus Ro Dah" itself is almost synonymous when it comes to videos of Skyrim, where people sync the main theme song of the game with real-life-moments, just take a look (and max your volume if you may) and you'll see what I mean.

5)I took an arrow to the knee
Likewise, "I took an arrow to the knee", a joke inspired by Skyrim of course (which I don't really understand lol), has become largely popular. The best remix ever.

6)'Tis the season to be jolly!
Oh yes, when it comes to Christmas, it's all about decorations, gifts, and of course, lightings! And from this video, it's quite apparent that Skyrim has largely influenced his Christmas.

Comic Fiesta 2011: Photos + First Byline

If you were christmas shopping or simply hanging out around the KLCC area last weekend, it would be hard for you to miss the large presence of those visiting the on-going Comic Fiesta which was held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, now it its 10th year. Seriously, coloured wigs, striking costumes, intricately-designed props - they were everywhere!

I've got to admit I'm not a massive fan of ACG (animation, comics and games), and I was only covering the event for The Star's youth section, R.AGE. You see, I only read Naruto mangas (which I gave up halfway) and only watched some animes - like super infrequently. However, covering the event gave me a whole new perception and a whole lot of insight into this industry, and how many people are actually that obsessed with it. And for that, I respect them.

Skyrim Saturdays. Starts Tomorrow!

Starting tomorrow, 10th of December, a new series of articles on Skyrim will be featured every Saturday in dedication to, in my humble opinion, 2011's Game of the Year. In the subsequent Saturdays, you will see me focusing on everything Skyrim - from reviews to tips and even exclusive mods. Not only will they be posted here, but I will also be tweeting using #SkyrimSaturdays. To know more, and everything Skyrim, stay tune, and follow me. (:

R.AGE Photowalk at Petaling Street

So during the photowalk with R.AGE and SmashPop, we went around Jalan Sultan and one of the main highlights around the area was Petaling Street, or better know as "chee cheong gai" (and the place with lots of cheap stuff). Since it was in the morning, most of the shops were closed or were only opening - only one or two food stalls and a market were operating and that's basically where we went.

Jalan Sultan Photowalk With SmashPop and R.AGE

About a month ago, The Star's Dedicated Youth Section, R.AGE, organised a photowalk in conjunction with the newspaper's 'Preserve Our Heritage' mural painting campaign along Jalan Sultan. It was my first photowalk and we were accompanied by well-known blogger/photographer SmashPop and the R.AGE team (of course).

What we can expect of Grand Theft Auto V

The past few days were all hype and craze as the highly-acclaimed Rockstar Games unveiled a single logo on its site. Yes, one single logo of Grand Theft Auto V and various hashtags like #GTAV and #GrandTheftAutoMemories went trending almost immediately. That's basically how awesome the series is, and how we can't deny it at all - Grand Theft Auto is like a legend.

And now, with its trailer recently unveiled, its almost certain that the hype will continue. So, after watching the video, what can we expect?

Nintendo Desperately Needs To Pick Up Speed, Fast

Sigh, this is so sad. Nintendo's latest report earnings showed massive negative numbers (70.3Million Yen), up to $925 Million of net loss during the 6 months up to September; and to make matters worse, according to Bloomberg, it is the company's first annual loss in 30 years!Well, it's actually not a surprise to me that they made a loss this time around, but I was definitely shocked when I saw the degree of what they lost. It's terrible.

Rockaway Fest: Pop Shuvit feat. Project E.A.R and One Buck Short

the crowd at Rockaway Festival 2011

So basically I had the chance to cover the event where 19 rock superstars locally and internationally come together and easily form the biggest Rockshow in Malaysia (as promised by the organisers) and damn, it was awesome. Mind you, it's my first concert as well as my first media coverage, how cool is that! Haha alright, back to topic, the main organisers was of course Livescape and popular local band artise One Buck Short. So kudos to them for putting together the amazing show, despite some minor delays and hiccups.

Rockaway Fest 2011

To be honest, I wasn't a big fan of any of the acts; but anyway since it was my first media coverage under the Young News Network Program (for Switchup.tv), I was extremely excited. In fact, Rockaway Festival 2011 is my first concert in my life, can you believe it? Anyway, here are some photos to start the week.

Is Real Steel Hinting That Xbox 720 is only arriving in 2020!?

I'm going to explain some essentially important thoughts of mine first:

First of all, I'm really excited for the new consoles, or rather, the so-called "next-gen" consoles. Secondly, the movie trailer for Real Steel looked amazing the moment I saw it circulating around Facebook. Thirdly, when I noticed that "Xbox 720" was printed in Real Steel's trailer, I almost went "holy shit" !

Remembering Steve Jobs: Contributions of a Legend

"Apple has lost a visionary and creative genius, and the world has lost an amazing human being. Those of us who have been fortunate enough to know and work with Steve have lost a dear friend and an inspiring mentor. Steve leaves behind a company that only he could built, and his spirit will forever be the foundation of Apple."
Steve Jobs - famed co-founder of Apple, the modern genius of our ubiquitous gadgets, innovative and legendary icon of our decade, I bid farewell to you.

It was so surreal, so shocking, so indescribably unbelievable. "No way! Steve Jobs can't be gone, he's only 56!" But yes, unfortuantely, it is confirmed. Trust me, it was like a slap on my face, my friends were talking about it, my teachers were lecturing about him and my parents were talking about how scary it was to die at the age of 56, and I agree, it is extremely difficult and unfortunate.

The BIG One at The Farm

What the heck is The BIG One? And where in the world is The Farm? Honestly, these two names were as foreign to me as to you when I first heard of it. Seriously, it could just be anything right. The farm could be anywhere, and anything could be big! Okay, it's about time i tell you what and where they are. The BIG One, printed on our certificates, is a 'video journalism workshop' organised by The Star's Switchup.tv for the Young News Network (YNN) as for The Farm, it's where the camp was held throughout the 3 days 2 nights period (i'll tell you more about the place, read on).
